The sshhmute Practice Mute is a world renowned brass practice mute made in New Zealand. The sshhmute has a unique vented airflow system through the mute. This allows the brass player to have natural airflow through the instrument and out of the mute, which results in very minimal back pressure and perfect intonation, and also helps to strengthen the brass player's throat muscles while practising.

Our sshhmutes are made out of hard-wearing, but lightweight, ABS plastic. Our seals are made out of cork, except for the sshhmute Practice Mute for French Horn (for Medium Sized Bells), which is made out of neoprene.

No, not at all! Just put the sshhmute into the bell of your instrument and play the same way that you would without the mute.

We make two other mutes: the Whisper Mute and the sshhtraight Mute. The Whisper Mute is our on-stage quiet mute. In terms of volume, this is in between a straight mute and a practice mute. And the sshhtraight Mute is our version of a straight mute. Both of these mutes are made out of the same ABS plastic that our sshhmutes are made out of. Both of these mutes are only available for Trumpet/Cornet.

Yes! We ship using DHL Express for our products, and send via NZ Post for our replacement seals. Shipping everywhere (outside of New Zealand) is $15 NZD (New Zealand dollars).

Our returns policy is only applicable to mutes bought from our website - www.sshhmute.com. If you purchased your mute from a retailer/dealer/shop and there is a fault or you would like to return it, you will need to contact the store that you purchased the mute from and you will have to adhere to that store's return policy.

Our returns policy lasts for 14 days. Bremner Music will only accept returns for faulty products. Customers who change their mind after receiving the mute or if the mute doesn't fit in their instrument are not considered.

The customer is responsible for any costs that are required for the return of the product to Bremner Music.
To be eligible for a refund, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.
To complete your return, we will require your order number (see your order confirmation email for this).
The original freight costs paid for by the customer are non-refundable.
